October Goals

Autumn.  Fall.  Football season.  Whatever you call the months of September, October, November and most of December, I view this time period as the best of the year.  There is something very rich and comforting about the fall.  Maybe it's the thick, knit sweaters or the creamy soups or with the mercury dropping, maybe it's the call to snuggle under a blanket.

My goals for October, aside from embracing my favorite time of the year, are to:

  • wear perfume every day :: more specifically, I'd like to wear perfume every day to work and sometimes on the weekends.  This is usually the last step in my getting ready process for work and it is often overlooked.  But I love the smell and even though I have a talent for running late in the morning, I would like to slow down to give myself this one moment to really finish getting ready.
  • visit a pumpkin patch :: as I had previously mentioned, I would love to visit a pumpkin patch and adopt a few orange gems to decorate our porch.
  • finish the baby's dresser :: we're about 75% of the way complete with a tall, skinny dresser to be used in the nursery and I just can't wait to see it finished and in the baby's room.
  • make a new soup :: there are so many incredible looking recipes on pinterest and our cookbooks that it's permeating my brain.  Time I try one or ten.
  • finish grey baby sweater :: I started knitting this grey sweater for the nugget in mid-September and then shared more progress as I went along.  The sleeves have been started and I'm very hopeful that I'll be able to finish and share the final results this month.

One month ago ::  September goals

The results of September's goals were solid and I'm giving myself a big pat on the back.  I printed 250 photos and began my Project Life journey.  This goal made me so happy when it came to fruition.  As I have said so many times already, this year has been wonderfully eventful for me and Alan.  To not print photos of all these memories we created would have been wasteful.  I'm so happy he let me craft bomb our home while I work on my Project Life album and re-live some of these moments.

My name is on the waiting list at the library for the Happiness Project so in the mean time I picked up four other books.  As a side note, I did read some of the reviews available for the Happiness Project and to say my view is tainted might be an understatement.  However, I'd still like to make my own opinion.

The one thing I did not do was sit out on the balcony.  Not sure what my aversion is, or maybe I do.  Maybe it has something to do with the plastic furniture covered in pollen.  I won't clean the chairs and therefore my toosh won't touch one.  At least we solved the mystery.  Call me detective.

While in Charleston, I tried out two new restaurants.  Guess we're pretty set on our favorites in Arlington.

The baby's highchair re-do was a fun project we took on and provided the tutorial in case you're interested in trying a simple antique furniture update.  The high chair is now in the nursery and I love the pop of bright red.
